Comments:  I was following the directions from a book of 100 hikes in northern california and took the wrong direction (I had wanted to climb the east end of Butano Ridge). I realized something was wrong halfway down Pescadero Creek but decided to do the west end. When I got the the bottom of the ridge trail, some women on horseback were just starting to prepare to head uptrail. I kept a good pace up and managed to beat them up to the ridge. Unfortunately I was so tired from the long, long walk that I didn't capture a very good pano.
